Linoleic Acid
Benefits: Is also called Omega 6 un-saturated Essential Fatty Acid and has anti-oxidant effects. Linoleic Acid is an essential fatty acid your body can’t produce by itself; you need to get it from either what you eat or what you apply to your skin. It can help reverse damage from UV radiation, increase barrier function of the skin, reduce hyperpigmentation increase circulation, fight acne smooth skin texture and reduce scaliness. Great for inflammatory skin condition and dry, sensitive skin. Oils that contain Linoleic Acid tend to be quite expensive.
Oleic Acid
Benefits: Also known as Omega 9 Unsaturated Essential Fatty Acid, comes with a host of whole body of health benefits. Oleic Acid has been described as godsend for dry ageing skin as it penetrates easily and deeply into the skins surface, replenishing lost moisture that naturally comes with age. Oleic Acid softens and moisturises skin, helps the skins absorption of vitamins, and absorbs into the skin’s deeper layers, and locks in intense rich moisture It also helps moisture from evaporating without clogging pores.
Palmitic Acid
Benefits: Palmitic Acid is one of the most common Saturated Fatty Acids, found naturally in the upper most layer of the skin. It displays antioxidant properties which helps to keep skin flexible and moisturised, and bonds moisture into the skin rather than let it evaporate. It has been noted that Stearic and Palmitic Acid levels are 31% lower in aged skin compared to young skin, providing an anti-ageing element to these 2 ingredients.
Stearic Acid
Benefits: Found naturally in the protective layer of the skin. Moisturises and protects from moisture loss Stearic Acid functions as surfactant to help wash away excess dirt from the skin which helps protect the skins surface.
Sterols
Benefits: Anti-Oxidants, Beta-sitosterol, Stigmasterol and Campesterol are found in most plant lipids, and they are reported to help soothe and heal environmentally damaged skin, such as wind chapping and sunburn, and have a traditional reputation in the treatment of inflammatory diseases and is used as nutritional antioxidants.
